How to talk with Legislators Back Home

Members, if you attended one of the recent Advocacy Training Meetings, we addressed the issue of speaking with your legislator. We suggested you do it back home and to approach issues from a positive point of view. In this article, note how the question by an educator was stated, “How can we help you understand our issues? How can we better communicate our issues with you?” This question was presented in a manner that no one felt under attack and demonstrated the educator’s desire to work with his elected official. Keep this in mind in the upcoming months.

Also be ready, the Legislative Session begins on Tuesday, February 2. It has been reported that work will begin immediately on the Education Trust Fund Budget in the House of Representatives. Their goal is to pass the ETF Budget by late March when the legislature goes on spring break.
