Janice Charlesworth, Executive Secretary
As the executive secretary, I wear many hats. My duties and responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the state office and making myself available to the needs of our members. Our staff pitches in to get the job done no matter what! During the legislative session, as the principal lobbyist, I monitor the bills that affect education retirees. Rest assured that I make certain that the concerns of our members are expressed at the State House. I am pleased with the progress we have made at AERA under my watch. Education retirees are a great group of people to work for, and I am blessed to be able to lead this association. Remember, our door and phone lines are always open at AERA!

Keron Forte,
Assistant to the Executive Secretary
My main duty as assistant to the executive secretary is serving as editor of our bimonthly newspaper, the "AERA Voice!" I do the editing, layout, and design of the publication, which is mailed to all our members. I also assist the executive secretary in various day-to-day operations of the association including attending board meetings, committee meetings, district meetings, lobbying network meetings, performing public relations and lobbying activities, and visiting local units as needed.

Vicki Rohan,
Director of Membership/Bookkeeper
Vicki has been with AERA since 1989, so she truly is the "senior staffer". Her duties include maintaining AERA's extensive database of education retirees and producing and mailing membership invitations several times a year as well as receipts to our members. Her office becomes a noisy place when she is printing membership statements! Vicki also handles all of the accounts payable and receivable duties. This includes producing a monthly financial statement and the AERA budget each year. One of Vicki's many duties is maintaining and updating the AERA website, so if you like what you see, let us know!

vdewees@aerainc.org	Veronica Dewees Office Secretary I am originally from Indiana. I was raised near Chicago. After marriage we moved to a town near Louisville, then to Pensacola, then Prattville, and now Deatsville. I have three wonderful adult children, one fabulous son-in-law and two very special granddaughters. My granddaughters are Faith and Summer. Now I know why some people have bumper stickers stating “Let me tell you about my grandchildren.” Becoming a grandmother is surely one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I’ve also had an exciting professional life. Before joining AERA, I was with the Mental Health Association in Montgomery. It is great being the new kid in this class and I am very lucky to have such wonderful ladies to spend my work day with. I certainly look forward to working with all of you!
